Getting Bored!

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

It’s a tedious job signing up for all these sites. You often have to fill in a personal questionnaire so that they can best suite surveys to you. It’s necessary, but time consuming.

I have taken my time with each company to find out what their compensation is for completing a survey. Some companies offer prize draws (cash or other incentives),some offer points which can be redeemed online; and some offer points which can be converted to cash.

I would not normally do the surveys that offer a prize draws. The likelihood of getting anything it not great. However, as I am test driving the scheme I will do them anyway.

I have also discovered that you can get paid for reading emails. I have not look into too much detail about this as I have been busy with the survey sites. I will give these a test drive once I have sussed the surveys out.

The (very long) survey list

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

OK, there are pages and pages of survey companies. It shows the company name, the region (mostly US); and the incentives (i.e. cash or prizes). I am not sure about this region thing. I am going to try and sign up with as many as I can. If it turns out that you can only take surveys located in your region then I’m asking for my money back.

Well, as expected you can only sign up for the survey companies in your region, international companies, and companies based in your country. This was not as bad as I first thought. Although there are much more sites in the US than anywhere else, there are still plenty to choose from if you live in the UK and Australia. Anybody else the choices are more limited but still worth a look.

Wow. I really wish this was a bit less gruelling. Why can’t there be something like an Ebay money machine that you can just set up and off it goes. I am determined to find these online money making machines that everybody shouts about, but I am yet to hear about or see one that actually makes money. Turnkey websites are all very well but there is nothing you can really do to make them more visible to the search engines (like add meta tags) because you don’t have access to the HTML code. I really hope I find a money making scheme that’s as easy as it says just so I don’t have to go through signing up for all these survey sites and wait ages to get a survey.

So here goes, I’m going to spend some time to sign up to as many survey as I can. It may take a while, there are quite a few to choose from. I may not post for a couple of days.

I expect that once I have signed up it may take a few weeks, if not months for the surveys to come through. I shall keep you posted.

Paid Surveys Part II

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

OK, so I have gone to the main page of this website and I have signed up. When you open the page there is a discount message that pops up. It asks you to enter your email address and you will receive a redemption code on the next screen.

The next step is to enter this redemption code on the bottom of the page where it invites you to sign up. I actually ended up paying $39.00 instead of $49.00 as a result of the redemption. I paid through paypal (ALWAYS PAY THROUGH PAYPAL, you are more protected than paying any other way).

You are then sent to another page where you are invited to sign up for some prize draw thingy with some online lotto company. It was free, so I did it anyway. I still have to hear whether they are going to send me an email, I’ll let you know.
So, I have now logged on. Going through the ‘getting started’ steps at the moment. There are a lot of bonuses on offer; I am going to ignore them for a minute though.

I am being asked to set up an email address for this survey thing. That’s fine. Then I am being asked to download some software of some sort.

OK, it assures me that there are no Adwares or Spywares on this program, we shall see.

The next step explains that they have a list of survey companies that you have to sign up for. OK, that was kinda expected, but I also see a mention of prizes and prize draws. Mmmmm, this was not mentioned on the sign up page. OK, onto the next step, the survey company lists.

Paid Survey Number 1

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

OK. Here is a site that claims you can make a tidy sum by answering paid surveys and participating in focus groups. The site owner is a woman who works from home looking after her children.

She offers a ‘free’ 60-day risk free trial (you have to pay a deposit of $49.00) in which you must complete at least 1 survey a week. At the end of the 60 day trial you email her saying whether you are pleased with the service and wait to hear whether she will accept you as a member; or say whether you are not satisfied and ask for the refund.

Suspicions:-

• I’m not sure that at the end of the 60 day trial, if you say that you are satisfied, that she will accept you as a member.
• I’m not sure either whether she will give you your refund back if you are not happy with the survey.
• As with all of these schemes I very much doubt that you can make as much money as they claim.
• Not sure whether a lot of these surveys are restricted to the US, or extend to the UK, where I am based.

Well, wish me luck, I’m signing up. $49.00 works out at about £25.00, so at this point I’m only looking to make this money back. My 60 day trial should end around 19th April 2007.

I will reveal full details of this scheme once I have more details of how it works and whether or not it is wham or scam. I will keep you updated of this scheme throughout this trial period and beyond.

What’s this all about then?

Well, I was just surfing the net, like you do, and came across this random ‘get rich quick’ site. The Book Wiz to be exact. ‘OK’ I thought ‘it’s free to set up, wont hurt to try it.’ So off I went believing that this gibble gabble they wrote on the site is a bit far fetched, but worth trying none the less. Signed up with Clickbank, did all the steps that was required and hey presto, a spanking new, if a bit amatuerustic e-book website about money making among other things.

I’m not totally gullible, just a little bit, so I bought a book from my own web site to make sure it was all working as expected. It was, and I had money show up on my Click Bank account. Excellent, sit back and watch the money pour in.

Then…

I got an email from Clicks2U promising to send traffic to my store with great conversion rates. Still being a little gullible (but not totally gullible) I signed up for the mid way package which cost me $29.00, which is about £20.00 for 1000 clicks through to my website. I never received any confirmation or details they said they were going to send me to keep track of the clicks they send through. I didn’t get the clicks, nor the replies to the emails I sent. Somebody is making loads of money without delivering the products. Well done them, poor moneyless me. They have been complained about though, so that’s a good thing. Since my site has been set up more than a year ago I have had no sales. I honestly can’t remember whether I had to actually pay anything other than for that stupid Clicks2U.

Anyways, I know a little bit more about how to get traffic to the website now than I did back then. I am going to start it back up, but this time not pay Clicks2u and instead us the conventional methods such as AdWords and website submission. I will keep you all posted on what happens and then ultimately decide whether it is a money wham or money scam website.

So that’s what this blog is all about. I am going to try a few more of these ‘get rich quick’ schemes (money permitting) and, like the Book Wiz, determine if they are wham or scam. There has to be SOMEBODY out there that HAS got RICH doing this!?!
