Update

April 20th, 2009 No comments

Well things might go a little quite for the next two weeks. I have an exam coming up and I need to study for it. I will still work periodically on my internet marketing business but it will have to take a back seat until the beginning of May.

I have made two more sales since the beginning of April. One for £40 and the other for £15. It’s not much, but these commissions along with the £121 I had in March will cover the expenses for a few months. If I make more commissions then it’s a bonus. Once this exam is out of the way I am really going to sit down and work out what I want from this business in the immediate and long term future. It always helps to have a little plan.

Still learning

April 13th, 2009 No comments

The learning never ends, which is a good thing because I enjoy it anyway. The thing I have been meaning to do since forever is to upgrade the wordpress platform on this blog. It just doesn’t cut it anymore and for SEO purposes this platform is way too out of date.

I just can’t face it though. I have tried to upgrade the platform before and it hasn’t worked, so I am scared to try it again. The provider I am with doesn’t have the easiest ftp operations in the world. But it is something I have got to do so hopefully I will get around to it.

On the Internet Marketing front another commission has come in and hopefully it won’t be long before I get my second. I have also started work on another niche which requires me to learn how an email list works. So that’s my next lesson.

I am also on the lookout for one of these tickers that can be added to websites. I’ll add one when I upgrade the blog platform.

And Again!

The second sale in less than a month! I thought one was fluke, two sales is believable. The best thing is that the commission was earned FREE. That is to say that no PPC was used to drive traffic to my site. It is a method known as bum marketing. It’s hard work but the rewards are worth it!

I have finally made a sale!

January 31st, 2009 No comments

A Sale

After all these years and months trying to get somewhere finally I have something to show for it. £28.08 may not sound like much, but it is priceless in the way that it says “this s**t works!” The sale came from a Squidoo lens that I had made when I first joined Wealthy Affiliate and discarded because I felt it wasn’t going anywhere fast. It just goes to show that even campaigns that don’t show much promise at the beginning can (and usually do) reach the dizzy heights of successfulness. This was a lens that was hastily put together, with no outside links or all the other stuff Wealthy Affiliate taught me to do. I have since learned that traffic comes a lot quicker if you know what articles to link where.

At times I have been very close to giving up, the frustration is so overwhelming at times I can’t breathe. I have learned to take my time and eventually things will happen, and it has. Here’s to many more happy commission days.

NicheQ just launched – Will it make niche research easier?

January 17th, 2009 1 comment

The NicheQ research system was released on Tuesday to all Wealthy Affiliate members and first impressions are good.

What is NicheQ?

NicheQ is an all-in-one Niche report that gives details of the market conditions, who your target audience is, the sub-niches within that niche; and the niches within the sub-niches (a three-tier niche system so to speak). NicheQ has several reports available in several industries, all of which have been fully researched.

Why does this help me?

Niche research has never been an easy task for me. The keyword research I never found too difficult, especially since I now know to look for long tailed keywords rather than general ones. What I have always found hard is researching what people are looking for and how to market to them.

I chose the insurance Niche Q (pictured below) and the report it generated has been brilliant. I didn’t even realize that you had to go this deep into research to be able to carry out internet marketing effectively. Once I read the report my head was overflowing with ideas. In the end I just thought I’d start from the top and work my way down the list. The best thing about the Insurance Niche is that the commissions are very high. Most insurance companies in the UK pay between £40 and £80 per policy sold. That works out at £1200 per month if one policy of £40 is sold per day.

My Plans

I plan to start with car insurance and market it to the UK audience at the moment. There is plenty of scope  to expand to other countries. I am still relatively inexperienced at the moment and taking my time to learn the ropes will not be wasted time.

The first step is to set up a free blog to get the ball rolling. This will also be used to attract AdSense earnings while I get approved by the relevant companies. While the blog and other forms of free article marketing are carried out and gain recognition in the search engines I will work on a  website dedicated to car insurance. The domain name is already reserved.

There are numerous resources available within a NicheQ to help you with your campaign.

The invaluable report. This will tell you who your audience are and how to sell to them.

In Conclusion NicheQ is one step ahead of other niche keyword software and research programs because it goes way beyond the keyword phase. In order to sell you need an in depth understanding of how the audience are thinking and whether they are buying a product. Niche Q give you all of this information and saves so much time and effort it is not worth looking at another niche research program.

Making money with niche keyword software

December 18th, 2008 3 comments

As an affiliate marketer the hardest thing I have found when trying to make money online is finding a profitable niche market. There are hundreds of niche keyword software programs out there that say they can help you find a niche market to promote. Finding a profitable niche market it one of the most important (and time consuming) operation in Internet Marketing.

The problem is that there are so many products to chose from (Clickbank alone has thousands) that it is hard to decide what product to promote.  Finding a profitable niche market is a steep learning curve and had it not been for Weathly Affiliate Univeristy  I would not have been able to get this far.

I have always stayed away from niche keyword software mostly because they were expensive and there were too many to choose from. There was never any evidence that these programs were any good.

However, Wealthy Affiliate University are getting ready to launch their very own niche keyword software called NicheQ. Due for release on 13 January 2009 this program is more that just a piece of niche keyword software. According to Wealthy Affiliate University NicheQ will do a lot of the vital research – including keyword research – that will help you identify what niche markets are profitable and worth promoting. There is also advice on how to leverage those markets to increase your selling potential. The best thing is that it’s free.

The downside? NicheQ is only available to Wealthy Affiliate members. If you want to use NicheQ you will have to join Weathly Affiliate first. Membership is $39 per month or $359.88 per year ($29.00 per month).

Why not nip over to the NicheQ website and download the free niche market finder report.

A surprising casualty of the downturn

December 1st, 2008 1 comment

I was gutted to check on the list of top Premium Bond prize winners only to find that the number of prizes ranging from £5,000 to £1m has been dramatically cut. There are still 2 prizes of £1m, but only one prize of £100,000. Other medium and high value prizes have also been cut. This is the direct result of the cut in interest rates announced by the Bank of England to get the economy moving. I guess that we all get caught up in the excitement of maybe winning a big amount of money and forget that the money we invest is susceptible to interest rate fluctuations.

The good news is that once the rate recover so will the amount of prizes. It’s just a case of sitting it out.
